INTOLERABLE RUMOUR

Article text
November 1992
Central St Martin's School of Art, London

A slice of brown colour from the existing ceiling has been drawn down onto the wall and the floor. Two cabinets, two chairs and a table with a telephone set the boundaries of the brown space. I live within this space dressed in brown for 3 hours at the opening. The phone rings at intervals giving messages which are: 'Slices of brown are invading art', 'Most patients respond to the prescribed colour' and 'Release me, please release me from this world'. All the calls are answered by the audience. For the succeeding week I stay in the space all day long witnessing activities.
